The Human Rights Tribunal has suspended the process by which a party can apply to dismiss a Human Rights complaint prior to a full hearing.

Effective immediately, no application to dismiss a Human Rights complaint will be accepted by the Human Rights Tribunal. This will not apply to parties who have already been given a deadline by the Tribunal to file such an application.

According to the Tribunal this emergency pause is intended to address a significant case backlog.

The emergency pause will remain in effect until further notice. The Tribunal expects to review the situation in early 2022.
