On March 13, 2025 TGC lawyer David McWhinnie and TGC articled student Ryan Sissons appeared in the British Columbia Court of Appeal to argue a case about the legal doctrine of common employer.

The doctrine of common employer says that in some circumstances an employee can be employed by more than one employer at the same time. It can be an important consideration in cases where, for example, an employer has a complicated corporate structure or where an employee is providing services to more than one company at the same time.
